Hungry Humpback Whales

Our Humpback Whales mostly only feed in the summertime while living in the north Pacific. During this period, they regularly consume approximately 1 ton of small fish and plankton each day. The way Humpback whales gather their food is spectacular. Often they will blow rings of bubbles around schools of capelin, mackerel, herring, and plankton in order to concentrate these small creatures into a smaller area.…See More

Hawaii Web Design

Aloha Fellow Photo Lovers!

We've designed this website to help those that love Hawaii express themselves through their images.

We specialize in building websites for Hawaii businesses. You can see our web design portfolio at Hawaii Web Design. Feel free to also check out Maui Maps.

Our Newest Creations we're built to help keep those on the mainland, or unable to get outside, updated through 2 simple blog sites. We've used Posterous and Tumblr to show off our island.

If you're interested, check out our latest Maui updates.

Or check out a day in the life in Maui Hawaii.

Also, you can regularly find me on Twitter discussing our islands.

Wailea Vacation Rental

Posted on November 3, 2011 at 9:30am 0 Comments

The Kukui Sunrise Wailea rental is incredible.  We've been looking for a spot to have our mainland and outerisland friends rent while enjoying extended stays on Maui, and now we've found it!  Instead of renting a condo or staying at an expensive resort, the Kukui Sunrise Wailea offers a luxury home in the heart of Wailea with ocean views, a 2 car garage, 3 bedrooms and all of the amenities you'd want.

Maui Whale Watching

Posted on October 8, 2011 at 10:30am 0 Comments

The whales are on their way back to Maui, and the 1st sighting in Hawaii has already occurred!  These photos were taken on the Aikane x5 off the west coast of Maui, Hawaii.  We really like this vessel for whale watching in Maui because they limit their trips to no more than 12 people on the…

Road to Hana Adventure

As you ponder what will make your trip to Maui unforgettable, consider a few of the following things to take part in:

  • Swimming in a natural pool with a romantic waterfall next to you.
  • Hiking through thick bamboo forest and cross bubbling streams.
  • Visiting an ancient volcanic black sand beach that is rich with Hawaiian cultural history and…

thanks for the commetns! actually, i don't have any professional editing programs...not even photoshop! i use my HP R607 point and shoot with its included macro and supermacro settings, and normally just use "auto-enhance" in windows photo editor if anything...very little editing, if any! what you see, is what it is! nothing better than natural beauty....

If you check our website at www.mauiphotofestival.com and go to the contact page, you'll see that we are all residents of Maui and have lived here for more than 20 years. We want to create an event that benefits all of us: Our attendees, our presenters, our sponsors, and the Maui community. Yes, we want to benefit, too, but until this takes wing, we aren't quitting our day jobs.

Still, we believe in our concept and are ready to work hard to make it a reality. We won't be able to do it alone. We are going to need a boatload of volunteers. And we are relying on word of mouth to get the news out for this first festival ... so we appreciate this venue and hope you all will spread the word and direct people to our web site: www.mauiphotofestival.com. Mahalo!

Having attendees shoot their own images on the beach is a lot different than having a commercial shoot on the beach. I think you'll find that all of Maui's public areas require permits or licenses to do business there. Shoots on private property obviously require the written permission of those property owners. We intend to follow all laws and property rights, as well as exercise our right to take photographs, during our Maui Photo Festival & Workshops.

I would love to hear about the legal restrictions of shooting on Kaanapali Beach. While areas can require permits for professional photo shoots, I would appreciate if you could post a link to the reference.

Lucky for us we're on private property. Our host property is the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. The first event is September 16-20, 2009. You'll find complete information at www.mauiphotofestival.com

Mahalo! I love Hawaii, and it is always good to view photography from the islands. I am happy to share my shots from camping on the islands and hopefully someday, I'll be able to actually live there and not just visit from time to time.
