Beaches Excluded from the Permit Process
We've heard from a few of you lately that wanted to know what beaches are excluded from the photography permit process.
ALL of Kaanapali Beach from the Hyatt to the Kaanapali shores Condominium is OFF LIMITS.

I believe that this area is not off limits to photography. It is excluded from the normal procedures for obtaining permits for beach weddings, but not photography per se. However, this area "is under the jurisdiction of the Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR). Applications for any commercial permits in this area must be made to DOBOR and must receive approval." Presumably, this would include any professional/commercial photography.
So, it appears that permits are possible, the process just needs to go through DOBOR and DNLR. If you want further information, you can call a rep at DOBOR at (808) 587-0439. I've been trying to call to get clarification but so far I have only gotten a voice mail and have not left a message......
