Know Your Camera - Developing a Digital Workflow

Pacific New Media opens the 2010 Session with a running start. This advanced photographic workshop explores location photography and photographic post-production workflow. The first session focuses on shooting techniques, use of lighting, composition, and proper image capture. In the following two sessions, the images produced are evaluated, corrected, and prepared for output using Photoshop.

Participants must have a strong working knowledge of manual settings on their camera or have attended Know Your Camera 1 and 2 with successful completion of both courses and have the ability to easily navigate the Macintosh environment.
On Saturday, bring a DSLR or equivalent camera with manual capabilities. On Monday and Tuesday, bring external storage media such as thumb or plug-and-play hard drive.

Saturday, Jan16th
Discussion; On location scouting & planning
Discussion; Setup, equipment & personnel needs
Setting up lighting, scrims, and evaluating exposures
Posing subjects
Image capture and evaluation

Monday, Jan 18th
Proper color and correction of color settings
Basic overview of Photoshop tools
Introduction to Bridge as a method of workflow
Evaluating images, making selections
Bridge Sorting and Correction of RAW files

Tuesday, Jan 19th
Discussion of image choices, critique attributes, weaknesses
Use of Photoshop to accentuate strengths and diminish weaknesses
Use of layers, actions and other tools to achieve desired results
Storage of images for output.

Jerry Omo Jr., AAS, Rochester Institute of Technology, is a professional photographer who has worked on projects for the U.S. Army, Mead Paper, Kodak, Korean Airlines, Konica West, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Hawaiian Sun Chocolates, Tradewind Charters, Indich Collection, Ross` Appliance, Surf News Network, and KHON.
